A Homeland Security report says we should be somewhat concerned about right-wing extremists. Seems reasonable, considering the fact that some right-wingers -- even elected officials! -- have used revolutionary rhetoric lately to express their opposition to the Obama administration. (I can't link to it, but Sen. Cornyn asked on his Facebook page if the tea parties could constitute "another shot heard 'round the world" -- which certainly qualifies as revolutionary rhetoric if you ask me.)
But John Carter thinks Homeland Security's concern is "outrageous." Presumably, Carter objects to the security assessment because it names right-wing extremists as a possible threat. I wonder, though: did Carter object when Homeland Security expressed concern about left-wing extremists just a few months ago (right after Obama took office)? Doubt it.
Seems to me that we should be concerned about domestic security, regardless of where the threat is coming from. But apparently Rep. Carter cares more about partisan politics than actual security -- the only explanation for objecting to a security assessment that identifies right-wingers as a potential threat.
That's not an attitude we want in our representative, is it?
